Kazakhstan: Zhambyl farmers began mass harvesting of sugar beet PDF Print E-mail

In Zhambyl region farmers began harvesting of sugar beet. The harvest will be accepted until the end of November.

As reported in the regional department of agriculture, harvesting campaign is only gaining momentum and, as experts say, the forecasts are quite good. In the region, about 400 farms are growing sugar beet.

According to forecasts, this year in the region, the beet harvest is expected at the level of about 170 thousand tons.

Last year for beet-growing farms for the first time in many years became fruitful, the IA "Kazakh-Zerno" reminds. The average yield of sugar beet for the region was 251.1 centners per hectare. Moreover, peasant farms that used the technology of drip and rain irrigation, achieved higher yields - up to 700 quintals of sugar beet per hectare.

In total in 2016, sugar beet was sown over 5.5 thousand hectares, the gross harvest was over 138 thousand tons of "sweet root". More than 101 thousand tons of root crops were delivered to the sugar refineries of Zhambyl region.
