Another month, another record at the Kansas City Board of Trade, reported NA "Kazakh-Zerno" with reference to the "KansasCity".

The commodity and stock-index futures exchange said it set a new daily volume record last Thursday in its hard red winter wheat futures contract.

The exchange said it recorded 47,937 contracts on July 15, exceeding the previous high set on Feb. 11, 2008.

Hard red winter wheat trading volume for last Thursday also set a record, breaking the June 16 high.

The exchange said the volume surge has been fed partly by declining production prospects in Russia and Kazakhstan, which are grappling with severe drought conditions. Weakness in the dollar and strength in French milling futures prices have boosted wheat futures trading.

The Kansas City exchange is the world's largest market for hard red winter wheat, which is grown in Kansas and is used for bread and other products.
