Kazakhstan: Poultry meat decreased in price by 1.5 percent, mutton and pork rose in price in Almaty PDF Print E-mail

Consumer price index in January compared with December, 2017 amounted to 100.7 percent in Almaty. Prices and tariffs for paid services grew by 1.2 percent, food products - by 0.5 percent, non-food products - by 0.4 percent.

According to statisticians, a noticeable effect on the increase in prices in the group of food products in January had a rise in price of fresh vegetables - by 3.7 percent. So, white cabbage grew in price by 12.9 percent, sweet pepper - by 6.6 percent, potato - by 4.1 percent, tomatoes and cucumbers - by 2.9-3.5 percent, onion - by 3.5 percent, carrot - by 1.6 percent. At the same time, beet fell in price by 4.5 percent.

The cost of fresh fruit grew by 1.7 percent, due to the increase in prices for bananas by 4.1 percent, grapes, lemons and pears - by 1.3-1.8 percent, apples - by 1.2 percent.

Flour increased in price by 0.4 percent (wheat top-grade flour - by 0.5%), pasta - by 0.2 percent. The cost of bread increased by 0.2 percent, due to rise in price of rye and rye-wheat bread by 2 percent, higher grade - by 0.1 percent, the IA “Kazakh-Zerno” reported.

Prices for oatmeal increased by 0.8 percent, semolina - by 0.1 percent. At the same time, the cost of buckwheat decreased by 4.5 percent, millet - by 2.8 percent, pearl barley - by 0.1 percent, which reduced the price of cereals by 2.3 percent. The cost of rice fell by 2.6 percent.

Prices for meat and meat products decreased by 0.3 percent, including poultry meat - by 1.5 percent, beef - by 0.3 percent. Furthermore, mutton, pork, sausages and meat products grew in price by 0.2 percent.

Fish and seafood became more expensive by 0.8 percent, due to a rise in prices for seafood - by 2 percent, fresh or chilled fish - by 1.5 percent, processed and canned fish - by 0.4 percent.

The cost of fat-and-oil products increased by 0.7 percent, due to the rise in price of butter - by 1.5 percent, sunflower oil - by 0.2 percent.

Dairy products became more expensive by 0.5 percent, including shelf-stable milk - by 1.3 percent, cream - by 1.5 percent, dairy products - by 0.6 percent.

The increase in prices for alcoholic beverages was by 0.6 percent (vodka – by 1.4 percent, cognac – by 1.2 percent), non-alcoholic beverages – by 0.3 percent, including coffee – by 0.8 percent, tea – by 0.3 percent. Prices for tobacco products (filter cigarettes) increased by 2.9 percent.

The cost of eggs increased by 2 percent, and sugar fell by 1.2 percent.
