In 2017, Kazakhstan reached its historic high of the gross harvest of barley

According to the Committee on Statistics of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, gross harvest of barley in the country, following the results of the harvesting campaign-2017, amounted to 3.3 million tons, which is 2.3% higher than the previous year's figure and is the historic high for this crop. The yield of barley in 2017 approached the level of 16 quintals per hectare.

Gross harvest of wheat amounted to 14.8 million tons, which is only 1.2% lower than the figure a year earlier. At the same time, the average yield of Kazakhstani wheat in 2017 reached 12.4 q/ ha, exceeding the average for the last 5 years by 16%.

We recall, as previously reported the IA “Kazakh-Zerno”, barley rose in price by more than 11 percent, wheat declined in price by 3.4 percent in 2017 in Kazakhstan.

In particular, according to statistical data, over the past year, corn prices have increased by 13.1 percent, barley - by 11.7 percent, rye - by 10.4 percent, oats - by 5.8 percent, rice - by 2.9 percent, millet - by 2.4 percent. And for buckwheat decreased by 10.4 percent, wheat - by 3.4 percent.

In total in Kazakhstan in 2017, about 20.6 million tons of cereals and leguminous crops were harvested at a yield of 13.4 q/ ha, which is almost the same as in 2016.
