In January, the growth of population of camels in Kazakhstan by 1.4% was ensured by Mangistau region
Saturday, 24 February 2018 12:30

In January, the number of camels in Kazakhstan increased, but extremely unevenly across the regions. In half of the regions the number of camels remained at the same level, including the North-Kazakhstan region, where statisticians have long since found no camel. Of the remaining seven regions, the number of these animals declined in four, and increased in three regions.

The greatest increase in camels’ population was provided by Mangistau region, which is also the leader in terms of the number of this livestock - 58.4 thousand heads, the IA “Kazakh-Zerno” wrote. Here the herd of camels increased by 3.9 thousand heads, which more than offset the loss of these animals in some other regions. In addition to this region, the growth in the number of camels took place in Almaty region - by 0.1 thousand heads and the South-Kazakhstan region - by 0.3 thousand heads.

We recall, the maximum number of camels in 2017 was fixed in June and July - 205.8 and 205.4 thousand heads, respectively. Further, the number of these animals gradually decreased. By August, it decreased to 198.6 thousand heads, by September 1, to 197.5 thousand heads, and by October 1, to 195.3 thousand heads.

According to the Committee on Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as of December 1, there were 190.6 thousand heads of camels in Kazakhstan, and by January 1, 2018, 188.4 thousand heads. As a result, in December the number of livestock decreased by 2.2 thousand heads or 1.2 percent. As of February 1, the camel population stopped at the level of 191.1 thousand heads and increased by 2.7 thousand heads or 1.4 percent.
