North Dakota farmers are beginning to harvest their crops, but wet conditions are slowing their progress in many parts of the state, reported "Kazakh-Zerno" IA with reference to the "Wjtv".

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Monday that warm, dry weather is needed before widespread harvest activity can begin in the state.

Only about 1 percent of the spring wheat crop has been harvested, which is well behind the average of 10 percent.

The oat crop is about 4 percent harvested. That's behind the average of 17 percent.

About 16 percent of the durum wheat crop has turned, which is about a week behind the average of 48 percent.

About 86 percent of the corn crop has silked, which is ahead of the 70 percent average.
