Sugar production rises by 15% till Feb 29 PDF Print E-mail

Новость на Казах-зерно:The sugar production has jumped by 15% to 18.65-million tonnes until February 29 this marketing season.

India had manufactured 16.25-million tonnes during the corresponding period of the 2010-11 marketing year (October-September), according to Indian Sugar Mills Association.

Maharashtra, considered as India's largest sugar producer, had manufactured 6.49-million tonnes of sugar till February 29, 2012, which is 14% higher as compared to last season.

In a similar fashion, the output in Uttar Pradesh, which is the second biggest sweetener producing state, jumped by 13% to 5.27-million tonnes in the same period. Moreover, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu posted higher production to 2.87-million tonnes and 8.20-lakh tonnes, respectively until February 29, said ISMA in a statement.

Andhra Pradesh has witnessed 20% more production as compared to last year to 8.71-lakh tonnes of sugar until now.

According to the projection of ISMA, India is expected to manufacture 26-million tonnes during the 2011-12 marketing year as compared to 24.2-million tonnes in the previous year.
